How to Downgrade Your iPhone 3G 02.30.03 (2.2.1) Baseband for Unlock

อย่างที่เรารู้กันว่า ในตอนนี้ (วันที่เขียน: 22 เมษายน 2009) Yellowsn0w เป็น Software ตัวเดียวที่สามารถ Unlock Baseband ของ iPhone 3G แต่เนื่องจาก Yellowsn0w นั้นสามารถ Unlock Baseband version 02.28.00 ได้เท่านั้น เพราะฉะนั้น สำหรับ iPhone user ที่ใช้ iPhone 3G (Lock) ที่ไป Upgrade Firmware เป็น 2.2.1 ทั้งที่ตั้งใจ และไม่ตั้งใจ จะไม่สามารถ Unlock ด้วย Yellowsn0w ได้ เพราะ Baseband ถูกเปลี่ยนไปจาก 02.28.00 เป็น 02.30.03 ทำให้ต้องหา SIM Unlock มาใช้ไปก่อน จนกว่าจะมี Software Unlock ตัวใหม่ออกมา

บางคนอาจจะแย้งว่า ทำไมเราไม่ Downgrade Firmware จาก 2.2.1 ลงไป 2.2 ล่ะ คำตอบคือ ถึงแม้ว่าเราสามารถ Downgrade Firmware ลงไปที่ 2.2 ได้ แต่ตัว Baseband จะไม่สามารถ Downgrade ลงไปได้ นั่นคือยังเป็น 02.30.03 เช่นเดิม เนื่องจากการ Downgrade Firmware จะมีเพียงแค่ OS Firmware เท่านั้นที่ถูกเขียนใหม่ แต่ Modem Firmware (Baseband) จะไม่ถูกเขียนใหม่ เพราะฉะนั้นการ Downgrade Firmware ไม่ช่วยแก้ปัญหานี้แม้แต่นิดเดียว

แต่ในตอนนี้ มีวิธีที่สามารถ Downgrade Baseband แล้ว โดยข้อจำกัดของวิธีการ Downgrade Basebase มีดังนี้

1. จะสามารถ Downgrade Baseband จาก 02.30.03 ลงไปเป็น 02.28.00 เท่านั้น
2. การ Downgrade นี้จะทำได้เฉพาะ iPhone 3G ที่ใช้ Bootloader version 5.8 (หรือ 05.08) เท่านั้น Bootloader version อื่นหมดสิทธิ์ครับ

ต่อไปนี้เป็นวิธีการ Downgrade Baseband version จาก 02.30.03 เป็น 02.28.00 สำหรับ iPhone 3G ที่ใช้ Bootloader version 5.8 (หรือ 05.08) ครับ

As we known, we can unlock iPhone 3G using Yellowsn0w. Unfortunately, Yellowsn0w only support 02.28.00 Baseband for iPhone 3G with 2.2 Firmware. So, if your iPhone 3G have been already upgraded 2.2.1 Firmware, we will not be able to use Yellowsn0w to unlock your iPhone 3G because Baseband will be changed from 02.28.00 to 02.30.03 after upgrading 2.2.1 Firmware. You have to use a SIM Unlock during this time.

Currently, there is an instruction to downgrade Baseband. The limitation of this instruction are the following:

1. This instruction can downgrade Baseband from 02.30.03 to 02.28.00 only.
2. This instruction need an iPhone 3G with the 5.8 (or 05.08) Bootloader only.

The following are instructions on how to downgrade your baseband from 02.30.03 to 02.28.00 for iPhone 3G with the 5.8 bootloader.

Step Zero (IMPORTANT):

Check ให้แน่ใจก่อนว่า iPhone 3G ของเรา ใช้ Bootloader version 5.8 (หรือ 05.08) หรือไม่ก่อนที่จะทำขั้นตอนต่อไป

• คุณสามารถ check Bootloader version ได้จากด้านล่างครับ
  • สำหรับ Windows
  • สำหรับ Mac

นอกจากนี้ Check ให้ด้วยว่า Baseband ของ iPhone 3G ของเราเป็น version 02.30.03 หรือไม่ เพราะเรากำลังจะ Downgrade Baseband จาก 02.30.03 เป็น 02.28.00 นั่นเอง

ให้เราติดตั้ง MobileTerminal จาก Cydia ก่อน ซึ่งเราสามารถหา MobileTerminal ได้ใน ‘Terminal Support’ Categories ใน Cydia

Make sure whether your iPhone uses the 5.8 bootloader or not before continuing.

• You can find follow  instructions on how to check your bootloader version
  • สำหรับ Windows
  • สำหรับ Mac

You need to check whether you are on the 02.30.03 baseband or not because we are about to downgrade Baseband version from 02.30.03 to 02.28.00.

please have MobileTerminal installed from Cydia. You can find MobileTerminal in the Terminal Support section of Cydia.

Step One:

เปิดโปรแกรม Cydia จาก SpringBoard

Launch Cydia by pressings its icon on your SpringBoard.

Step Two:

เลือก tab ‘Sections’ ที่อยู่ด้านล่างของ iPhone

Press to select the Sections tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step Three:

เลือก iClarifed จาก list ในหน้า Sections. ถ้าเรายังไม่เห็น iClarified อยู่ใน list เราต้อง add ‘Clarified’ source ก่อน ซึ่งดูวิธีการได้จาก ที่นี่ ครับ

Press to select iClarifed from the list of Sections. If you don’t see iClarified you will need to add the iClarified source using these instructions.

Step Four:

เลือก Application ชื่อ ‘DownBB’ จาก Package list ของ iClarified

Press to select DownBB from the list of Packages.

Step Five:

กดปุ่ม ‘Install’ ที่อยู่มุมบนขวามือของ iPhone เพื่อทำการติดตั้ง

Press the Install button at the top right of the screen.

Step Six:

กดปุ่ม ‘Confirm’ เพื่อเริ่มการติดตั้ง

Press the Confirm button to begin installation.

Step Seven:

เมื่อการติดตั้งเสร็จสมบูรณ์ ให้กดปุ่ม “Return to Cydia”

Once installation has completed successfully press the large Return to Cydia button.

Step Eight:

กดปุ่ม ‘Home’ เพื่อกลับไปยัง SpringBoard จากนั้นเปิด Application ชื่อ Terminal ซึ่งก็คือ MobileTerminal นั่นเอง

Press the Home button to return to your SpringBoard then press to launch Terminal

Step Nine:

ให้ login เป็น root โดยทำดังนี้

• พิมพ์ su จากนั้นกดปุ่ม enter (ปุ่ม return)
• จากนั้นใส่ password เป็น alpine

Enter su into the terminal window then enter alpine when prompted for a password.

Step Ten:

รันคำสั่งต่อไปนี้ (ตัวอักษรสีฟ้า) เพื่อเริ่มรัน Script ในการ Downgrade Baseband

DownBB

Enter DownBB into the terminal window to launch the baseband downgrade script.

Step Eleven:

ตัวโปรแกรมจะให้เรายืนยันว่าจะดำเนินการต่อไปหรือไม่ ถ้าเราแน่ใจแล้วว่า …

• iPhone 3G ของเราใช้ Baseband version 02.30.03 อยู่
• iPhone 3G ของเราใช้ Bootloader version 5.8 (หรือ 05.08) อยู่

ให้พิมพ์ว่า ‘yes’ ลงไป ตามรูปด้านล่าง

You will be asked to confirm you would like to continue. Please make sure you are on the 2.30 baseband and have the 5.8 bootloader before entering yes into the window.

Step Twelve:

DownBB จะเริ่มทำงาน เพื่อทำการ Downgrade Baseband ในเครื่อง

DownBB will now execute the script which downgrades your baseband.

Step Thirteen:

เมื่อ Script ทำงานเสร็จสมบูรณ์ iPhone ของเราจะ restart เองโดยอัตโนมัติ

Once the script has completed it will automatically reboot your iPhone.

Step Fourteen:

ตอนนี้เราจะพบว่า Baseband ในเครื่องได้กลายเป็น version 02.28.00 แล้ว

Please note you will now be on the 2.28 baseband.

Step Fifteen:

ตอนนี้เราสามารถ Unlock iPhone 3G ได้โดยใช้ Yellowsn0w ครับ
